Dora Segall is a multimedia creator and yoga teacher. Her work uses written storytelling, photography and other mediums to document music, labor, identity and subcultures through both journalistic and artistic lenses.
Dora’s work aims to challenge our perceived notions of high versus lowbrow culture. They do this by covering traditionally underreported or misrepresented subject matter with nuance and depth.
Dora’s freelance reporting has appeared in outlets such as Washington City Paper and The Chicago Reader. She also curates a monthly music newsletter called The Roundup. As a photographer, she has worked with Sanctum Festival, the Park District of Highland Park and numerous individual clients.
A recent graduate of Kripalu School of Yoga and Health’s 200-hour yoga teacher training, Dora is a burgeoning yoga instructor. They teach three times a week at LA Fitness and have worked with synagogues, family support services and a chiropractor’s office. They are currently planning programming that fuses yoga instruction with music local to Chicago. As an instructor, Dora seeks to cultivate a therapeutic environment accessible to students of all levels.
